I found this book to be very useful. I am coming to Windows 8 from non-windows background, so the progression from basic to more advanced was very good for me. The hands-on tutorials were quite good at illustrating the concepts with real GUI and coding steps.

Excellent, cover things not covered on others February 2, 2013

The book starts very slow, really slow, like the first 1/3 is just history and blah blah, but then it goes right to the target, one of the best explanations of how the Windows 8 apps work, especially almost at the end explains, how to do a TRIAL version and how to switch from TRIAL to FULL Purchased version. You do not have to create two versions of your app, just one, but knows if it has been purchased, if it needs to run on trial or if it has expired. This is really invaluable and awesome material and it helped me create apps that can be sold at the store. Very very nice ending!! Giving 4 stars, for all the space wasted at the beginning of the book (it is really not wasted, but if you want to jump in to start coding, then the first 1/3 is mostly a history lesson). Then I recommend to get as a following book the Adam Nathan book. So I recommend buying both and you are good to go :)
